What is the Alta Ecosystem?
The Alta Ecosystem is MontaVelo's modular wall-mounted cycling gear storage system. It's built around the Alta Cycling Gear Rack, a vertical rod in hickory wood or matte black aluminum, combined with a set of thoughtfully designed, precision 3D-printed attachments intended to hold a complete set of cycling gear. The system is designed to keep your kit organized, accessible, and displayed with intention.
What's included in the full Alta Cycling Gear Rack?
The full system includes the main rod and wall mounting brackets, a helmet hanger, two sunglasses holders, and a shoe & glove hanger. Two drywall anchors are also included for installation. Everything you need to display a complete set of cycling gear is in the box.
Can I buy individual attachments separately?
Additional attachments are available separately for existing Alta rack owners. Note that some components, such as the wall mounting brackets, are part of the main system and are not sold individually.

Is the Alta Ecosystem only for road cyclists?
The Alta is designed for any rider who invests in quality gear and wants it stored properly. Road cyclists, gravel riders, triathletes, and mountain bikers all use the system. The main compatibility consideration is cleat type (SPD-SL) for the Shoe & Glove Hanger. See the compatibility section for more details.
Materials & Build Quality
Why hickory?
Hickory is one of the hardest and most impact-resistant domestic woods available. It's dense, resilient, and holds up to the daily reach-and-replace routine of a regular rider without showing wear. Both hickory finishes are stained and sealed for premium durability and scratch resistance.
What are the attachments made from?
All attachments are precision 3D-printed in matte black polymer. The components are designed and tested to support the intended load of a full set of cycling gear.
Is 3D-printed durable enough for daily use?
Yes. The attachments are printed using materials selected for strength and durability under regular use. The system is designed for the weight of typical cycling gear (approximately 5 lbs total) and performs well within that range.
What finish options are available?
Three options are available: Hickory Light (a warm natural brown stain), Hickory Dark (a richer, deeper stain), and Aluminum (a matte black anodized rod). All three use the same matte black 3D-printed attachments.
Compatibility
Will it fit my helmet?
The Alta is compatible with the vast majority of road, gravel, and mountain bike helmets. The helmet hanger uses a T-shaped design that interacts with the adjustable retention piece found on the back of most helmets. The optional Helmet Standoff lets you adjust the tilt angle to find the best display angle for your specific helmet.
Will it fit my cycling shoes?
The Shoe & Glove Hanger is currently designed for SPD-SL style cleats. Compatibility with additional cleat systems is coming soon.
Will it fit my sunglasses?
The sunglasses holders are designed to fit virtually any frame. Four interchangeable insert sizes across four positions accommodate a wide range of nose bridge widths. The Long holder is suited for your everyday pair. The Short holder works best for a folded pair or spare lens.
Installation
What tools do I need?
Installation requires only a screwdriver. Two drywall anchors are included. For full step-by-step instructions, see our installation guide.
Do I need to find a stud?
The Alta includes two drywall anchors for standard installations. You are solely responsible for ensuring the installation method is appropriate for your specific wall type, surface condition, and load requirements. For wall types other than standard 1/2" drywall, or if you may need assistance, it's always best to consult a professional.
What wall types does it work on?
The Alta is designed for standard 1/2" drywall. For other wall types (tile, concrete, plaster, etc.) alternative mounting hardware may be required. Consult a professional for best installation to an alternate material.
Can I move it after installation?
Yes. The Alta can be unmounted and reinstalled without damage to the product.
Pre-Order, Shipping, & Returns
How does the pre-order work?
The Alta is currently available for pre-order. Place your order now and your card will be charged at checkout. Your rack will be manufactured and shipped within 6–8 weeks of your order date. If our minimum order quantity is not met, you will be refunded.
Can I cancel my pre-order?
Yes. Contact us at support@montavelo.store before your order has been manufactured and we'll do our best to process a full refund.
Where do you ship?
We currently ship within the contiguous 48 United States. Other shipping destinations may be added in the future. If you are in another location and would like to make a purchase, please contact us at support@montavelo.store and we will do our best to make it happen.
How will I know when my order ships?
You'll receive a confirmation email when your order is placed and a separate shipping notification with tracking information when it's on its way.
What do I do if my order arrives damaged?
Please inspect your order immediately upon delivery. If your item arrives damaged, contact the shipping carrier directly to file a claim. Save all packaging materials and the damaged item before doing so, as carriers require them for the claims process. If you received the wrong item or believe there is a product defect, contact us at support@montavelo.store.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns within 30 days of delivery. To be eligible, items must be unmounted, unassembled, in their original packaging, and showing no signs of use. Return shipping is provided but the cost is deducted from your refund. Customized orders and final sale items cannot be returned.
To start a return, contact us at support@montavelo.store. Do not send items back without first requesting a return. Unrequested returns will not be accepted. Once your return is received and inspected, refunds are issued to your original payment method within 10 business days.

Care & Maintenance
How do I clean the Alta?
Wipe down the attachments and rod with a damp or dry cloth to clean. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Cycling shoes and gloves can bring in dirt over time. A quick wipe-down after rides keeps the system looking its best.
How much weight can it hold?
The Alta is designed for a typical set of cycling components and is not intended to support more than approximately 5 lbs of gear total. Do not overload the system beyond its intended use. Please refer to our terms and conditions for full notices regarding product use and liability.
